Job Summary

As an Assistant General Manager, you will maintain the account in partnership with the General Manager, following the approved budget while meeting client expectations. You will conduct safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs, maintain excellent relationships with employees, guests, and the client, and collaborate with other departments within the operation. You will promote the professional growth and development of the entire team and foster strong interdepartmental relations to integrate the dining service department with the facility plan of operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and coaches employees and managers
  • Participates in employee meetings and training programs
  • Maintains food cost while ensuring quality standards
  • Manages purchasing and inventory controls
  • Is knowledgeable on HACCP controls and proper food storage and use
  • Performs related duties and special projects as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5–7 years upscale food service experience, including at least one year of multi‑unit management
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and flexible skills with attention to detail
  • Supervisory, scheduling, training, and coaching skills
  • Effective problem‑solving and conflict‑management skills
  • Ability to multi‑task and stay focused with constant interruptions
  • Monitors food purchasing, costs, preparation, production, and inventory control
  • Prepares and monitors budgets, flash reports, financial targets, and forecasts
  • Menu planning in consultation with chefs
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures and reconciliation of multiple cash banks and reports
  • Monitors compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and serving
  • Reviews work procedures and operational problems to improve service, performance, and safety
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional business etiquette and client relations
  • Time‑management and prioritization skills to meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong catering experience required
  • Serv Safe or Department of Health certification a plus
