POSITION SUMMARY
Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, metal, siding, and wallboard to conform to local building codes, by performing the following essential functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSStudies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required.
Selects specified type of lumber or other materials. Prepares layout. Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials.
Shapes materials to prescribed measurements. Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together.
Verifies trueness of structure with a plumb bob or carpenter’s level. Erects framework for structures and lays subflooring. Builds stairs and lays out and install partitions and cabinetwork. Covers subfloor with building paper to keep out moisture and lays hardwood, parquet, and wood-strip-block floors by nailing floors to subfloor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base.
Applies shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls. Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, interior, and exterior trim, and finish hardware. Installs concrete formwork. Installs utilities & prepares grades. Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete. Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
Other duties as assigned.
Establish good working relationships with other team members. Foster positive communications and relationships with Venture clients and sub-contractors.
Keep up to date on industry trends and developments. Adhere to company policies and procedures. Actively participate in meetings as requested.
High School Diploma or GED required. Two years of experience working in the construction industry.
Able to operate computers, basic word processing, spreadsheet, and email.
Knowledge of commercial and multi-family construction techniques, tools and equipment.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
Frequent standing, walking and sitting. Frequent lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
