Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google's needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

As an application kernel for containers, gVisor safeguards major Google services—including GKE Sandbox, Serverless, Big Query, Google Cloud Functions, and core AI/ML workloads like Gemini. Operating at massive scale, it manages tens of millions of concurrent sandboxes, hundreds of thousands of new instances per second, and billions of hourly requests. Having established itself as Google's premier internal container defense technology, gVisor is entering its next phase: scaling advanced capabilities for agentic workloads in alignment with Google Cloud strategy.

In this role, advocate by a team, our key priorities include sandboxing at scale, securing internal Google workloads, accelerating AI inference performance, and defining the standard runtime defense for enterprise AI agents.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $147000 - $211000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits.
