Job Description
The Truck Driver is responsible for safely transporting and delivering top-soil, compost, mulch, sand, and other landscaping materials to residential, commercial, and construction sites. The driver ensures timely deliveries, maintains vehicle safety, and provides professional customer service during deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate dump trucks or other commercial vehicles to transport topsoil and related
- Deliver materials to customer locations, construction sites, and landscaping projects.
- Load and unload materials using truck hydraulics or other equipment when necessary.
- Inspect trucks before and after trips to ensure they are in safe operating condition.
- Follow assigned delivery routes and schedules from dispatch.
- Secure loads properly to comply with safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and paperwork.
- Communicate with dispatch regarding delays, issues, or route changes.
- Follow all traffic laws and company safety policies.
- Perform basic truck maintenance checks and report mechanical issues.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (Class A or B depending on truck type).
- Clean driving record.
- Knowledge of safe truck driving practices.
- Ability to operate dump trucks and understand hydraulic systems.
- Ability to lift, bend, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong time management and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience hauling soil, gravel, mulch, or construction materials.
- Experience delivering to construction or landscaping sites.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of trucks.
Work Environment
- Outdoor work environment with exposure to dust, dirt, and changing weather.
May require early mornings, long hours, and occasional weekend work during busy seasons.
