American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Dept RN for a 13-week day shift travel contract at a Level III Trauma Center in Kirksville, MO, requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and prior travel nursing experience.
Requirements- Active MO RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC — no certifications may expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date
- Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required
- Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency in triage, PIV, port access/deaccess, foley placement, NG/OG placement, wound care, and splint/OCL application required
- Must be able to assist with arterial line, central line, and chest tube placement
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Work in an 11-bed Emergency Department at a 93-bed Level III Trauma Center, ACC Chest Pain/STEMI Center, and Joint Commission Acute Ready Stroke Center
- Serves a high-acuity patient population spanning all ages, from neonates to elderly, with approximately 1,100 patient visits per month
- Patient population includes ESI levels 1–5, with an average ESI level 3 acuity; expected ratio is 4–5:1
- Patients include stroke, STEMI, trauma, sepsis, and psychiatric holds (facility has no inpatient psych unit)
- Procedures performed include triage, PIV placement, port access/deaccess, foley insertion, NG/OG tube placement, wound care, splint/OCL application, and assistance with art line, central line, and chest tube placement
- Ultrasound-guided IV access is available and preferred but not requiredli>
- EMR is MEDHOST EDIS; medication dispensing via Omnicell (no barcode medication administration in the ED)
- Day shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM; weekends required
- Float to other departments may be required; agency and permanent staff share the same float rotation (average is approximately 1 shift per 13-week contract)
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate EMTALA paperwork is completed in accordance with regulatory guidelines and hospital policy
- On weekends, ED RNs are required to make placement calls for psychiatric patients being boarded in the ED
- Willingness to precept staff eventually is required, though precepting is not expected immediately; prior preceptor or charge experience is preferred
- Department operates with a direct-to-bed model whenever possible and functions as a team
- Scrub color: any solid color
- RTO requests must be less than one week in duration
- Candidates who have worked at any CHS facility as permanent staff within the past 2 years are not eligible for this position
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
