Job Summary

The Direct Services Mobile Unit Specialist provides assistance in the operations of the Sammy’s Window clothing closet and food pantry for rural communities in Northeast, Missouri. Priority counties will include Schuyler, Scotland, Clark, Adair, Knox, and Lewis. As operations are established, additional counties in the NE will be added.

Responsibilities
  • Research and develop relationships within rural communities for clothing closet outreach and distribution for foster/adoptive families.
  • Develop Memorandum of Understanding (MOU’s) with each rural single site location.
  • Coordinate and execute regular (at least 1x monthly) distribution events for rural single site locations.
  • Receive incoming needs requests from rural communities (including individual clients) and ensure the van is stocked with requested items for next distribution.
  • Oversee process and pick-up of donations and deliveries from rural community partners as needed or requested.
  • Create and oversee processes for rotation of donation items to make sure supply is fresh and appealing to families.
  • Ensure Mobile Unit clothing closet and food pantry is organized, sorted, and clean for welcoming family shopping experience.
  • Ensure processes and organization system is maintained, allowing distribution events to run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Document all client distribution in internal database no later than the end of business each Friday.
  • Act as a community representative by attending Chambers and other local meetings on behalf of FAC.
  • Provide regular reports to the Direct Services Manager in Springfield and attend weekly staff meetings with supervisor.
  • Participate as an active team member with all agency departments so the agency’s efforts to assist clients and maintain Council on Accreditation (COA) accreditation and state/private contracts standards are coordinated for maximum effectiveness.
  • Attend and participate in internal and external meetings, conferences, and trainings as scheduled.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in human services field (or two (2) years of experience working retail and community outreach).
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.
  • Core understanding of program development, organization, implementation, planning and evaluation.
  • Solid commitment to the principles of support and advocacy for foster and adoptive families.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills. Must have the talent to quickly establish rapport and build trust; strong verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible and a self-starter; can multi-task while also being highly detail-oriented while meeting all deadlines.
  • Model ethical and professional behavior at all times.
  • Experience working with marginalized communities with a nuanced understanding of systemic oppress ions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, can shift styles to fit the needs of a wide range of cultures, people, and organizations.
