Position: Bonds and Dockets Specialist (Full-Time) - Corrections

general description of duties

please be advised that the bonds and dokets specialist position is required to perform the essential functions of the position within the secure confines of the jail.

this position is eligible for night shift differential pay.

note to internal applicants: internal candidates in the same classification and/or paygrade as the position posted will not receive a pay adjustment if selected.

under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform moderate to complex tasks which include information collection, review, entry, and verification in support of law enforcement activities. Employees in this classification interact with law enforcement personnel, arrestees, correctional staff, courts and the public to process the intake and release of inmates in a somewhat fast-paced environment.

essential job functions
  • process the intake and bond release of inmates incarcerated at osceola county correction department.
  • review arrest paperwork and court documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • enter arrest information into the inmate management system; receive, execute and process warrants and ror's.
  • review inmate criminal histories to obtain information using fcic/ncic.
  • receive, verify and document cash bonds, surety bonds and purges at the bond desk; process incoming bonds on in and out of county warrants; document, file and copy bonds for courthouse and files; release bond copies to appropriate court; notify local warrants section on bond information.
  • work closely with the judicial system and disseminate inmate information to various parts of the criminal justice system to include the courthouse and the clerk of courts.
  • perform a wide variety of routine administrative support work in inmate records, general bond procedural processing, and interaction with court and corrections personnel.
  • receive telephone inquiries and concerns about inmates from the public, ascertain the nature of the call, and resolve personally, or direct it to the appropriate individual or division, or act as liaison to the assigned supervisor.
  • perform a wide variety of records maintenance tasks for incoming and outgoing inmates, e.g., file checks for accuracy; enter and update inmate information in the automated jail management system; communicate with other agencies to provide and/or confirm information via teletype; process inmate documents.
  • provide training and complete daily observation reports for new employees as needed or assigned.
  • prepare and process inactive files; purge files and pulls for storage.
  • inventory equipment and supplies, and initiate requisitions for needed repair and/or additional supplies.
  • perform duties as assigned/necessary which are related, or logical in assignment to the position.
minimum qualifications
  • education: high school diploma or ged
  • experience: two (2) years of experience in customer service, administrative support functions, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • miscellaneous: must pass a typing test at 30 wpm. Must be able to obtain fcic/ncic certification within thirty (30) days of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid fl drivers license.
  • preference: criminal justice experience.

  • ability to learn a wide variety of corrections administrative operations, policies and procedures.
  • considerable knowledge of modern office procedures and equipment; considerable knowledge of support functions; ability to organize, inventory, and maintain records.
  • ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • ability to work under pressure and/or with frequent interruptions; skill in using good judgment, discretion and confidentiality in the performance of duties.
  • ability to deal with people in a variety of changing and complex situations; ability to deal tactfully and cordially with a variety of people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with all levels of management, employees, other departments, officials and the general public; skill in the principles and techniques of customer service skills.
  • ability to access, operate and maintain various software applications.
  • ability to operate basic office equipment e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines.
  • ability to read, update and maintain various records and files; knowledge of administrative support functions, e.g., records maintenance, data analysis, reports processing, documentation proofing.
  • must be able to type 30 wpm.
  • must be able to work all shifts and overtime as required.
