Valencia College is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven Staff Assistant to join the Student Activity Department at our Poinciana Campus. The ideal candidate is comfortable using computers and office equipment, communicates effectively both verbally and in writing, and has strong interpersonal skills.
Active involvement in events, activities, and organizations outside of class is key to your future success. Student Development partners with the college’s academic curriculum to provide co-curricular and extracurricular experiences that support students’ holistic growth and development, including clubs, work‑study positions, leadership series, and co‑curricular certificates.

Salary: $33,800 per year
Essential Job FunctionsRequired Minimum Education:
High school diploma or GED.
Required Experience:
Advanced secretarial training and progressively responsible experience involving staff assistance and advanced clerical/secretarial work.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to use a PC, software programs, typewriter, and office machines.
- Ability to take and transcribe dictation.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
This role primarily operates in a professional office environment, routinely handling office equipment such as computers, keyboards, mice, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Typical physical demands include stationary work, occasional lifting of 5-15 pounds, and frequent communication and information exchange. Cognitive demands involve discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
