The Operations Program Specialist will support a program’s approved tactics by managing operational activities across two campus preserves in central Florida – Disney Wilderness Preserve and Tiger Creek Preserve – within The Nature Conservancy’s Center for Conservation Initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe Specialist performs administrative duties including scheduling, logistics coordination for events and meetings, purchasing, filing, mailroom operations, facility management, telecommunications and reception. The role also involves recruitment and training of program volunteers and coordination of volunteer activities. Additional responsibilities include processing human resources, finance and information systems tasks, preparing reports, monitoring budgets, maintaining data systems, and documenting procedures. The Specialist manages timelines, handles inquiries, prepares program materials, and communicates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful program execution.
The position may require the use of company-owned or leased vehicles and participation in the Auto Safety Program.
- Serve as the liaison between the SAF Operations Team and the preserves.
- Make independent decisions within the scope of work and prioritize tasks.
- Identify and resolve routine problems using available resources; refer difficult issues to supervisor.
- Handle confidential information with sensitivity.
- Supervise volunteers, interns, or temporary staff as needed.
- Manage purchasing, invoice processing, vendor contracting, and budget tracking.
- Participate in assigned projects as a team member.
- Coordinate conference space access with Preserve Manager.
- Maintain legal files and obligations, including liability releases and the auto safety program.
- Act as principal contact for emergency preparedness, office closures, and emergency plans.
- Be willing to travel, work overtime, evenings, and weekends as required.
- Provide operational and administrative support to the Florida Business Unit as needed.

- • Ability to analyze information for reports, activity coordination, and problem solving.

- • Ability to write and edit materials for program communication and events.
- • Database skills, including data management, tracking, and report production.
- • Excellent customer service orientation.
- • Relevant coursework, training, or experience in a related field.
- • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

The position requires a valid driver’s license and compliance with The Nature Conservancy’s Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy‑owned or leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if deemed a high‑risk driver. Employment is contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the applicant’s motor vehicle record.
Salary InformationThe starting pay range for this position is generally within $25.65–$28.76 per hour for U.S. candidates. The final pay within this range is based on factors such as location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience.
