Heavy Equipment Operator, Construction Labor & Trades
Dozer Operator
The Dozer Operator levels and scoops soil and controls the direction and angle of the equipment to move rocks and debris.
This position will work with straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor type vehicle equipped with front mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop.
Essential Functions
- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Operate the dozer and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Ensure dozer is in proper gear and is not moving too fast for working conditions.
- Observe hand signals, grade stakes or other markings when operating machines so that work can be performed to specifications.
- Operate equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
Other
- Understand and comply with all Company Safety policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
- Assists with loading and unloading trucks & deliveries.
- Observe hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating equipment so that work can be performed in a safe and quality manner.
- Familiarity with excavations and heavy lifting.
- Experience in stockpiling.

Supervisory Requirements
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This is a field based role. Employee will be working on heavy civil and highway construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Physical Demands
The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination. The employee must have excellent stamina.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. This position will occasionally require long hours and weekend work. Average +/-50 hours per week.
Travel
The role requires no travel.
Required Education and Experience
- Must adhere to OSHA safety protocol, and work in a drug-free environment
- Must be reliable/have reliable transportation
Preferred Education and Experience
- Construction industry experience preferred
- Takes full ownership of assigned projects and can work independently
- Additional Eligibility Requirements Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver's license prior to employment.
