What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an experienced CEI Senior Bridge Inspector for current and future FDOT construction work in Central Florida. Experience of both substructure and superstructure construction along with FDOT concrete inspection, drilled shaft, and pile driving experience is a must. HNTB is looking to grow our local CEI inspection team. This position will be based in Celebration, FL and surrounding area.
What You’ll Do:- Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
- Advises Contractor superintendent of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plan, specs, and contract. Reviews and resolves quantity disputes with contractor.
- Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform sophisticated and complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements of completed work to date.
- Reviews Inspector’s daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
- Performs on-site material testing and produces as‑constructed sketches.
- May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 9 years of construction related experience.
- All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.
- At least 4 years of verifiable FDOT CEI experience in bridge construction.
- This position is ideally suited for local candidates in the area above due to the nature of the work.
- FDOT certifications (ACI Concrete Field Technician, CTQP Concrete Technician Level 2, CTQP Field Inspector Level 2, CTQP Pile Driving, CTQP Drilled Shaft, CTQP Final Estimates I & II, Advanced MOT)
- Proficient in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications.
- Ability to work with others, take direction, and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Willingness to learn and also train others.
- Working knowledge and ability to enter samples in FDOT’s Materials Acceptance and Certification System (MAC).
