Asphalt Laborer/Raker

An Asphalt Laborer/Raker performs many duties to assist crew when paving roads and highways. Key responsibilities include effectively distributing asphaltic material by raking and shoveling, matching and finishing freshly made asphalt joints evenly, leveling and adjusting surface irregularities, restoring surface finish, spreading asphalt to proper grade and finishing before compaction, moving and delivering tools, equipment, and materials to locations throughout the job site, operating equipment, assisting with maintenance and cleaning of equipment, loading and unloading from work truck and cleaning tools and equipment, routinely assisting other members of the workforce in different areas of production, maintaining acceptable attendance in a flexible work schedule, following and promoting all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment, maintaining strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures, being available to travel and work to multiple construction sites within your geographic region, possessing a professional attitude while interacting with peers, contractors, and the general public.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 20 lbs. regularly, working with a shovel or rake for periods of time throughout the day, pushing and pulling an asphalt rake, stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching, squatting, climbing up onto and down off of equipment on a regular basis, operating directional, speed, and operational controls on the equipment.
