Business Education Teacher

Business Education Teacher Job Goal:
Ensure all students develop essential business, technology, and career-readiness skills through effective, evidence-based instruction that prepares them for postsecondary education and the workforce.

Primary Responsibility:
Plan, organize, and deliver engaging business and technology instruction that equips students with practical skills in areas such as business operations, finance, entrepreneurship, and digital literacy in a supportive learning environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Teach business education courses such as keyboarding, business communication, accounting, entrepreneurship, marketing, personal finance, and computer applications using curriculum approved by the Board of Education.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that integrate academic standards, real-world applications, and career readiness skills; adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Utilize business software and technology tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, and industry-related applications) to enhance instruction and student learning.
  • Prepare students for industry certifications, workplace expectations, and postsecondary education opportunities where applicable.
  • Maintain and manage classroom technology, equipment, and instructional materials; ensure proper use and request repairs when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain an organized classroom environment that promotes professionalism, responsibility, and workplace readiness.
  • Set and enforce standards of behavior that reflect business etiquette and employability skills.
  • Provide a safe, supervised, and engaging learning environment both in the classroom and during school-related activities.
  • Assess student performance using a variety of evaluation methods; track academic progress and provide timely feedback and reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student achievement.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, expectations, and program opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and administrators to support student academic and career development.
  • Support and participate in career and technical student organizations (CTSOs), internships, job shadowing, and other work-based learning experiences when applicable.
  • Comply with district policies, procedures, and evaluation standards, including attendance and professional responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical behavior, and confidentiality in handling student and school matters.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, business partners, and the community.
  • Remain flexible and willing to accept assignments across classrooms, programs, or campuses as needed.

  • Encourage development of soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
