Job Summary

The INS Technician performs testing, troubleshooting, calibration and repair/overhaul on various inertial navigation systems.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Inspects, installs, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, configures, calibrates and services electrical equipment such as INS’s, gyroscopes, accelerometers and platform (gimbal) assemblies.
  • Diagnose mechanical or electrical problems
  • Complete teardown, overhaul and calibration
  • Understand and follow electronic schematics
  • Read maintenance manuals to identify repair procedures
  • Replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools and soldering
  • Inspect completed work to ensure that it meets performance standards
  • Keep records of maintenance and repair work
  • Test electronic instruments, using circuit testers, oscilloscopes, and voltmeters
  • Assist engineers in projects and research and development
  • Provide solutions to technical problems
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Experience in system-level testing and verification.
  • Experience with inertial measurement and/or guidance and navigation.
  • Experience with rate tables, multi-axis positioners, thermal chambers, simulators, precision power supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes.
  • High attention to detail and repeatability; disciplined checklists.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
Education/Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in testing or troubleshooting instrumentation
  • Strong technical skills and ability to interpret test procedures and specifications.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a work station and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
