Job Summary
ENR Top Structural engineering firm seeks a Structural - Senior Engineer to join our Virginia Beach or Hampton, VA offices. The firm prioritizes people and culture while offering work on varied and unique projects with the Virginia Department of Transportation, U.S. Navy, and commercial clients. The role combines structural design and inspection of transportation structures (bridges, ancillary) and waterfront facilities (piers, wharves, bulkheads).
The position involves office and field work with occasional travel.
Must have a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.) license.
- Act independently on technical matters in area of expertise.
- Provide technical engineering expertise to Project Managers, engineers, and clients to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
- Review, analyze, and resolve field and design issues.
- Provide expertise in complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering.
- Serve as technical specialist on engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.
- Assist in coordinating project schedules and ensuring timely completion.
- Maintain client focus as a top priority in all activities.
- Provide technical leadership in the pursuit process, including proposal preparation, cost estimating, contract negotiations, project quality, and profitability.
- Attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours as required.
- Lead project teams and support staff, supervise necessary staff, and coach other project engineers and technical staff.
- Actively observe and act in an appropriate manner related to safety.
- Ensure staff receive specialized training in health and safety procedures and discuss safety as a critical aspect of work.
- Bachelor's degree or master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four‑year university.
- 10 years or more progressive experience in project engineering.
- Experience in inspection and/or design of bridges, roadways, railroads, marinas, and/or ports.
- Maintains competency and serves as a major firm resource in field of expertise.
- Must have a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.) license.

- Bachelor's degree or master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four‑year university.
