CEI Field Engineer

Overview

This opportunity involves engineering inspection and documentation of construction work to monitor compliance with plans, specifications, contract provisions, and applicable regulations, protecting the client's interests. The role supports modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, specifications, and other contract documents for assigned projects.

• Assist with construction field work to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Coordinate and schedule quality control inspections; observe on-site material testing and coordinate testing/monitoring services.
• Perform mathematical calculations for material quantity payments; conduct basic shop drawing reviews to ensure procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications; identify discrepancies or conflicts.
• Review contractor daily construction reports for accuracy and thoroughness; review as-built markups and document project progress with video and photo records; prepare progress reports.
• Consult with the Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems; proactively propose solutions and liaise with the engineer of record.
• Stay current with industry technology and tools used in inspection work; utilize GPS/Rovers to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide office engineer support as needed (e.g., prepare meeting agendas/minutes, manage RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Identifies discrepancies or conflicts within documents and uses inspection checklists to assess quality of work.
• Writes daily inspection reports, tracks work performed, and computes basic pay item quantities with guidance.
• Understands shop drawing review and can read/interpret the contractor's CPM schedule at a basic level.

• Engineer Intern license.
• Experience with digital construction management software (e.g., Constructware, Asite) or similar.
