This opportunity involves providing engineering inspection and documentation of construction work performed by contractors to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, contract provisions, and state and local regulations, protecting the client’s interests. You will also assist in the compliance and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, specifications, and other contract documents for assigned projects.
What You’ll Do- Assist with construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
- Coordinate and schedule quality‑control inspections.
- Observe on‑site material testing and coordinate testing and monitoring services.
- Perform mathematical calculations for material quantity payments.
- Perform basic shop drawing review and ensure procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts.
- Review contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency.
- Regularly review contractor’s as‑built mark‑ups, document project progress using video and photo, and prepare reports on construction progress.
- Consult with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommend solutions, assist in the resolution of issues, and act as a liaison with the engineer of record.
- Remain current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools, using resources, training, and research to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks, including GPS and Rovers.
- Perform office engineer work when needed, including preparing meeting agendas, minutes, processing RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
What You’ll Bring- Ability to identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents and gain familiarity with work quality using inspection checklists.
- Proficiency in writing daily inspection reports, tracking work performed, and computing pay item quantities at a basic level with direction from more experienced staff.
- Understanding of shop drawing review and the ability to read and interpret the contractor’s CPM schedule at a basic level.
- Engineer Intern License.
- Training in digital construction management software such as Constructware, Asite, or similar preferred.
