Overview
The Senior Platform Engineer is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, operational support, and platform stability across critical cruise line technology systems. This role serves as a technical escalation point between vendors, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders, supporting vendor based operational applications used in cruise operations, logistics, telemetry, medical systems, and asset management environments. The position emphasizes production support, incident management, operational ownership, vendor coordination, and platform reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and technical support for vendor based software platforms supporting cruise operations.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for vendors, business stakeholders, and infrastructure partners.
  • Triage and troubleshoot production incidents, identify root causes, coordinate resolution efforts, and drive issues through completion.
  • Maintain platform availability, operational stability, and overall system reliability.
  • Support Windows Server and Linux based environments in partnership with infrastructure teams.
  • Write and troubleshoot SQL queries and scripts against Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
  • Coordinate with networking, server, and security teams during incident response and operational troubleshooting.
  • Develop and maintain automation and operational tooling using Power Shell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting technologies.
  • Participate in software, infrastructure, and service layer testing prior to releases or upgrades.
  • Support incident, problem, and change management processes following established operational procedures.
  • Assist with project initiatives, infrastructure updates, and operational roadmap execution.
  • Create and maintain system documentation and operational procedures.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on call rotation supporting critical operational platforms.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of advanced troubleshooting and operational support experience in enterprise production environments.
  • Strong experience supporting production applications and operational platforms.
  • Experience working with vendor supported enterprise systems and coordinating with external vendors.
  • Strong SQL/database experience, including writing and troubleshooting queries and scripts.
  • Hands on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle databases.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server environments.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including connectivity troubleshooting, firewall concepts, and data flow analysis.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using Power Shell, Bash, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Excellent communication and cross functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and support niche operational applications.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting cruise, hospitality, logistics, medical, marine, or operational enterprise systems.
  • Experience in regulated or operationally complex environments.
  • Experience supporting cloud hosted environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Familiarity with AWS EC2 environments.
  • Experience with Service Now or other ITSM platforms.
  • Exposure to CI/CD deployment processes and tooling.
  • Experience supporting operational vendor platforms such as AMOS, Sea Care, Crunch Time, MXP.
