Job Description Summary
We are excited to announce an opening for a Nurse Practitioner Traveler. As a Nurse Practitioner Traveler, you will provide continuing and comprehensive medical care and health maintenance to senior‑age patients. IMA’s Nurse Practitioner traveler delivers outstanding diagnostic services, cares for the patients, and provides them with appropriate healthcare services that meet state and national standards of care. You will also conduct comprehensive annual health assessments that close quality care gaps, identify and document chronic medical conditions, and educate and counsel patients about their conditions and lifestyle improvement.
This position requires travel to multiple locations, spending at least 50% of the time functioning as a primary care provider, with the remainder spent conducting annual health assessments.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
- Complete administrative assignments requested by the Medical Director and partner with providers within the practice to ensure a collaborative environment.
- Actively participate in monthly provider team meetings and performance reviews with the Medical Director.
- Interview, examine, diagnose, and treat patients during routine check‑ups, for injuries and illnesses, and during annual wellness visits.
- Order appropriate diagnostic tests, interpret results, and communicate treatment options to patients; refer to medical specialists when necessary.
- Review and maintain patients’ records and medical histories in a timely fashion and record patients’ progress.
- Perform minor surgical procedures such as wound care, suturing, joint aspirations and injections, and administer immunizations.
- Evaluate physical, cognitive, and emotional well‑being and address common senior health problems such as falls, memory concerns, depression, incontinence, pain, isolation, and polypharmacy.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and families to improve health or treat health issues, including medical advance care planning.
- Prescribe pharmaceuticals, medications, and treatment regimens for identified and documented medical conditions.
- Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and verify allergy information is up to date before prescribing.
- Accurately record correct healthcare diagnoses to ensure proper billing.
- Order or assist in ordering medical supplies and equipment.
- Remain current on the latest medical research, practices, and procedures in adult medicine.
- Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Drive to multiple clinics to treat patients.
- Perform all other duties as assigned based on licensure and business need.
- Assist with the management of assigned Medical Assistants.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities following the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Fully state‑licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP).
- One year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner working as a primary care provider in an outpatient office setting.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).
- Valid Florida Driver’s License.
- Willingness to travel to IMA clinics as needed.
- Fully bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Experience with Athena software.
- Managed care or Medicare Advantage experience in a primary care setting.
