Excelon Associates is conducting a search on behalf of a private university client for an experienced and highly qualified Dean of Nursing to provide strategic leadership across the institution's nursing programs.
The university is continuing to expand its academic operations and is seeking a nursing education leader with a strong background in academic quality, student success, faculty development, regulatory compliance, and nursing program growth.
The Dean of Nursing provides strategic leadership, academic oversight, and operational direction for all levels of the institution's nursing programs within its U.S. operations.
This position is responsible for ensuring academic excellence, regulatory and accreditation compliance, strong student outcomes, and consistency in program delivery across campuses. The Dean will provide leadership and oversight to the Directors of Nursing at multiple campuses while working closely with senior academic and nursing leadership to strengthen program quality, faculty effectiveness, student support, and institutional outcomes.
The Dean will collaborate closely with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Vice President of Nursing to advance the institution's nursing education strategy and ensure students receive a high-quality, student-centered educational experience.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for nursing programs across the institution's U.S. operations.
- Lead and support Directors of Nursing across multiple campuses, ensuring consistency in academic quality, policies, processes, and program delivery.
- Promote a culture of academic excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure nursing programs remain compliant with applicable state regulations, licensure requirements, accreditation standards, and institutional policies.
- Monitor and evaluate academic and operational performance across nursing programs.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes, including NCLEX pass rates, retention, progression, and completion.
- Oversee curriculum development, assessment, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Support the recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention of qualified nursing faculty and academic leaders.
- Identify opportunities for faculty development and ensure faculty remain current with developments in nursing education and clinical practice.
- Develop and implement student support strategies designed to strengthen academic performance and persistence.
- Collaborate across academic, student services, regulatory, and administrative departments to support institutional objectives.
- Participate in accreditation activities, regulatory reviews, self-studies, reporting, and other compliance initiatives.
- Analyze program data and performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate interventions.
- Oversee nursing program budgets and ensure effective allocation of faculty, instructional, clinical, and operational resources.
- Remain current with emerging trends, technologies, instructional methodologies, and regulatory developments affecting nursing education and healthcare.
Education
- Doctorate in Nursing, such as a PhD or DNP, or a related field from an accredited institution is preferred.
- A Master's degree in Nursing may be considered for candidates with significant relevant leadership and nursing education experience.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida, or eligibility to obtain Florida licensure.
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in nursing education.
- At least three years of leadership or administrative experience within nursing education.
- Experience overseeing multiple nursing programs, academic locations, or campuses is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with nursing program accreditation, regulatory compliance, and licensure requirements.
- Proven success improving nursing program outcomes, including NCLEX performance, student retention, progression, and overall program effectiveness.
