The Level 1 Industrial Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery within the organization. Under direct supervision, the Level 1 Industrial Maintenance Technician performs work of moderate difficulty in the various skilled trades, including, but not limited to, machine maintenance and repair, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting, electrical and plant layout, inside and outside of the various JELD-WEN production plants and facilities.
Responsibilities and Duties- Equipment inspection – Conduct routine inspections of equipment and machinery to identify signs of wear, damage, or malfunction. Report any issues promptly to the supervisor or lead technician.
- Basic Repairs – Assist in basic equipment repairs and maintenance tasks under the supervision of experienced technicians. Learn and apply basic troubleshooting techniques to address common issues. Performs general maintenance on machinery, mechanical equipment, or the structure of any JELD-WEN facility.
- Replaces wires, electrical receptacles, fixtures, and motors.
- Repairs minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings using plaster or the appropriate compound and paint.
- Performs basic plumbing work in replacing and repairing sinks, water coolers, toilets and other plumbing fixtures.
- Repairs wood or concrete floors, steps, stairs, and sidewalks.
- Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles, hangs doors, installs door locks, and replaces broken window panes.
- Repairs items using welding and machining tools.
- Tool and Equipment Maintenance – Maintain and organize tools and equipment used in maintenance tasks. Ensure tools are clean and in good working condition. Report any issues with tools or equipment upon discovery to the supervisor.
- Safety Compliance – Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks. Report any safety hazards or concerns to the supervisor immediately.
- Maintains the machinery and equipment in a clean, orderly, and operational condition while following prescribed safety regulations. Conforms with safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. This includes but is not limited to the use of safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, steel-toed boots/shoes, and associated safety equipment to be on the plant floor and maintain and repair the machinery and equipment and perform the job duties in a safe and efficient/effective manner.
- Documentation – Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs. Complete maintenance checklist and report as required.
- Maintains inventory of maintenance supplies and tools and notifies supervisor when to reorder.
