Equipment Operator: Excavator--Mas-Tec Civil Joint Venture Project

summary / objective

operate equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. This position will work with excavators with rubber or steel track, equipped with hydraulically powered bucket to transport fill or materials.

• watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
• operates company equipment safely.
• loading of trucks in a timely manner.
• excavate for various underground utilities at various depths and percentages of pitch.
• observe hand signals, grade stakes or other markings when operating machines so that work can be performed to specifications.

• understand and comply with all company safety policies and procedures as well as osha regulations.
• assists with loading and unloading trucks & deliveries.
• observe hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating equipment to work in a safe and quality manner.
• familiarity with excavations and heavy lifting.
• experience in stockpiling.
• ability to follow verbal directions from supervisors.

this position has no supervisory responsibilities.

this is a field-based role. Employee will be working on heavy civil and highway construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

the position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity and multi‑limb coordination. The employee must have excellent stamina.

this is a full-time position. This position will occasionally require long hours and weekend work. Average +/-50 hours per week.

the role requires no travel.

• must adhere to osha safety protocol, and work in a drug‑free environment.
• must be reliable and have reliable transportation.

• construction industry experience preferred.
• takes full ownership of assigned projects and can work independently.

• must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
