Cost Accountant

About the Opportunity

• Produces, reviews, and interprets daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports covering areas such as production costs, inventory levels, yield performance, utility consumption, and labour metrics, ensuring alignment with plant objectives, company policies, and GAAP standards.
• Partners with plant leadership to evaluate variances between actual and standard costs, including impacts related to raw materials, finished goods, and purchase price variance (PPV), while maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting overall financial performance analysis.
• Collaborates with operations on departmental initiatives by providing ongoing financial insight, identifying trends, and recommending opportunities to improve efficiency and cost control.
• Conducts product costing reviews and audits to confirm that standard costs accurately reflect current manufacturing processes.
• Supports month-end activities by ensuring timely reporting of physical inventory counts and reconciling finished goods through detailed analysis of production, inventory, and sales data.
• Provides cross‑functional support to the finance team, including backup coverage and participation in special projects as required.
• Maintains adherence to corporate reporting standards within the plant, ensuring accurate, consistent, and transparent financial information, while serving as a key point of contact for plant‑level financial reporting and communication.

• 2+ years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
• CPA in progress is an asset.
• AS400 experience is an asset.

Must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada.
