Job DescriptionAs a member of Private Wealth Management, the Wealth Planning Specialist partners with TD advisors to deliver high‑value customized guidance on retirement, tax, estate and overall wealth planning for high‑net‑worth clients. The specialist provides professional financial, tax, estate and risk‑management planning support; assists advisors and relationship managers with business development, opportunity spotting and revenue generation; and executes TD Wealth’s high‑net‑worth strategy.
Keyresponsibilities include
- Preparing customized wealth plans based on information obtained directly from HNW clients and their relationship managers
- Carrying out independent research to ensure client key issues (retirement, tax, philanthropic, and estate planning) are addressed
- Keeping informed of relevant wealth‑planning developments and informing TD partners
- Proactively spotting, anchoring, introducing and following up on opportunities for complementary businesses and solutions
- Developing and maintaining relationships with TD Wealth advisors and relationship managers within TD Wealth Management
- Delivering wealth‑planning presentations to advisors and clients
- Assisting other WAS team members with preparing comprehensive wealth plans
- Developing strong internal and external networks and referral sources
- Ensuring appropriate service levels to maximize profitability, minimise costs, and manage business to avoid financial losses and reputational damage
- Carrying out other tasks and duties as assigned by manager from time to time
- Undergraduate degree
- Accredited financial planning designation (CFP, PFP)
- Eight years of relevant experience in all aspects of wealth planning
- Complex financial planning experience
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written
- Strong analytical and judgment skills
- Computer skills:
Microsoft Office, Naviplan, Voyant, or CCH (Financial Planning software) - Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
- Minimum eight years of financial or wealth‑planning experience gained at an accounting firm or financial institution
- Self‑starter capable of working independently and providing high‑quality services to clients
- Excellent people and relationship‑building skills
- Strong communication, presentation, time‑management, and organizational skills
- Computer proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Professional designation such as CPA, CA, CMA, CGA, CFA, LLB, or JD is an asset
- Investment and insurance industry knowledge is a strong asset
