Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is seeking an innovative and strategic leader to join our team as Director, Space Management & Operational Readiness. Reporting to the Associate VP, Infrastructure and Facilities, the Director provides leadership and oversight for organization-wide space management, operational readiness, and transition planning initiatives that support SHN’s continued growth, redevelopment, and modernization efforts. As a key member of the leadership team, the Director is responsible for optimizing the planning, utilization, activation, and transition of clinical and administrative spaces across the organization.
Working collaboratively with clinical, operational, and project stakeholders, the Director ensures new and redeveloped facilities are designed, equipped, and operationally ready to deliver safe, efficient, and patient‑centred care. This role champions space planning, workflow optimization, operational readiness, change management, and transition strategies that align with SHN's strategic priorities, regulatory requirements, and commitment to operational excellence.
- Ensures efficient workflows, safety, accessibility, and compliance with healthcare design, CSA guidelines, and other regulatory standards.
- Establishes organization‑wide furniture standards that support operational consistency, infection prevention and control, ergonomics, and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) requirements.
- Manages furniture and Non‑Clinical equipment procurement, budgets, vendor relationships, RFP processes, and contract administration.
- Promotes safe and efficient environments through ergonomic design, workflow optimization, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Maintains design standards and specifications that incorporate evidence‑based design, innovation, sustainability, and operational best practices.
- Oversees space utilization and inventory management, including occupancy analysis, move coordination, and space allocation planning.
- Directs operational readiness and transition planning activities, including activation strategies, governance, stakeholder engagement, readiness assessments, and move management.
- Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders to implement future‑state models of care, optimize workflows, and align operational processes with new facilities and technologies.
- Leads workforce readiness initiatives, including staffing planning, training, orientation, competency development, and change management.
- Oversees facility activation, commissioning, and testing activities to ensure facilities, equipment, technology, and operational resources are ready for occupancy.
