We’re looking for an experienced and technically driven
Chief Operator
to lead the day-to-day operation of our municipal water and wastewater systems.

As the Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) for North Perth’s Water and Wastewater Systems, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of essential services to our growing community. This is an opportunity to bring your technical expertise, leadership, and problem-solving skills to a role where your work has a direct and meaningful impact.

Reporting to the Director of Environmental Services, the Chief Operator provides on-site leadership, technical direction, and operational oversight to the Utility Foreperson and Utility Operators. You will help lead a skilled team while ensuring our water supply and distribution systems and wastewater treatment and collection systems are operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.

Work Environment

This is an on-site operational leadership position.

Work is primarily based out of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, with attendance at various worksites located throughout North Perth. This is an ideal opportunity if you enjoy being connected to the work, the team, and the community.

Successful candidates will bring:
  • MECP Water Distribution & Supply License class II and Wastewater Treatment License Class III in compliance with O. Reg # 453/93.
  • 5 years progressive management experience in water/wastewater operations with municipal experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of current MECP Water/Wastewater regulations, standards and levels of service.
  • The ability to function well under pressure, and to respond to frequently changing demands and priorities.
  • A commitment to health and safety, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.
