Position Overview
Title: Adult Education English Language Instructor – Part Time
Location: Kittery Adult and Community Education, Kittery, Maine
Reports To: Cindy Furbish, Assistant Director
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 4–6 PM, Tuesday & Thursday; 4–8 PM when classes in session; 4–8 hours weekly;
September–June in the Kittery office.
Pay: Negotiable

Responsibilities- Provide both one‑on‑one and small‑group instruction to English as a Second Language and Adult Basic Education students.
- Teach diverse adult learners across beginning and intermediate proficiency levels, delivering engaging English classes (reading, writing, speaking, listening).
- Adapt and deliver multi‑level curriculum tailored to student needs and program goals, such as general English, academic preparation, and business English.
- Evaluate student progress through regular testing, assignments, and participation, providing constructive feedback.
- Foster a supportive, interactive, and culturally sensitive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with volunteers and the academic team on curriculum refinement and professional development.
- Bachelor's degree and a commitment to serving a diverse population.
- Preferred: teaching experience and experience working with diverse populations.
- Excellent management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using instructional technology and online learning platforms.
- Must be available for scheduled evening hours.
- Candidate will undergo a Criminal History Record Check through the Maine Department of Education.
