Job Overview

The Kittery School District is seeking an Educational Technician II to work with students in the Functional Lifeskills program who struggle with various functional challenges throughout their school day. This role supports Special Education Teachers in implementing students' Individual Education Plans, collecting data, following behavior support plans, and instructing students in various content areas as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Support Special Education Teachers in implementing students' Individual Education Plans
  • Collect and analyze data regarding student progress
  • Follow behavior support plans and intervene as needed
  • Instruct students in assigned content areas
  • Work closely with elementary students in grades K-3 with varying academic, developmental, and functional needs, including communication disorders
  • Provide 1:1 or small group support as required
  • Assist in leading the class when the teacher steps away for a special education meeting
  • Support students in all settings, including the general education classroom
  • Promote independence and assist students in achieving independence
Qualifications
  • Current Maine Educational Technology certification
  • Fingerprinting and Criminal History Record Check through the Maine Department of Education
  • Strong communication and instructional skills; ability to work with students who have diverse needs
  • Experience or willingness to work with students with communication disorders
