Industrial Engineer (SIOP-)
Bowhead seeks an Industrial Engineer to join our team providing program management support in a broad range of services to and assisting our US Navy clients. The Industrial Engineer will evaluate current manufacturing practices, manage production schedules, process workflows, enforce quality control, and improve production processes across the four public shipyards (PHNS, PSNS, PNSY, and NNSY) on behalf of PMO 555.
This position is on-site only and will be performed at one of the following Naval Shipyards:
Kittery, ME;
Norfolk, VA;
Bremerton, WA; or Washington, DC, with required travel to the other shipyards.
The SIOP Industrial Engineer will also be actively involved in managing Modeling and Simulation (MODSIM) efforts across the shipyards to track layouts, floor plans, and equipment staging, ensuring lean, streamlined access and up-to-date logs using RFID or other tracking tools.
Responsibilities- Use basic and advanced calculations to determine current and potential productivity of a process, requiring knowledge of calculus, trigonometry, algebra, and other math.
- Communicate written and verbally with stakeholders, making technical recommendations understandable.
- Demonstrate leadership skills to implement productivity changes and build relationships with coworkers.
- Create viable solutions for challenges, improving production and reducing waste (industrial or time), and develop plans to overcome problems.
- Analyze and interpret data, producing reports for leadership and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s Degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, civil engineering, or related field such as Modeling and Simulation, or Production Management.
- Seven or more (7+) years of relevant experience as an Industrial or Manufacturing Engineer designing & developing production layouts for shipyards, production facilities, warehouses, and/or machine shops to increase productivity and quality standards.
- Shipyard experience is required.
- Experience reviewing current production schedules and processes to identify improvements, designing facility layouts, and estimating production costs.
- Candidates with a Masters in Engineering will be considered in lieu of some experience.
- Must hold a Secret level security clearance and be a US citizen.
- PE Certification
- Modeling and Simulation experience
- Operations Research experience
- Shipyard experience, including Machine Shop or Factory Production experience
- High percentage of travel to other shipyards required.
Target salary is $110,000/year to $140,000/year, commensurate with experience.
