Summary
This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer.
Duties- Exercise engineering creativity and sound judgment modifying traditional techniques or developing new ones to solve complex problems.
- Responsible for creating a safe and efficient worksite, preventing or responding to major casualties.
- Write and review job summaries, technical work documents, status reports, technical reports, correspondences, and milestones.
- Provide support to other codes and shops and assist with shop/shipboard tests on mechanical support systems and services.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Within the Department of Defense, the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement is subject to provisions of 5 U.S. Code § 3326.
- Male applicants born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- Work may be performed in areas with potentially harmful physical and chemical agents; medical surveillance participation required.
- Personal protective equipment may be required continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and remote or isolated sites.
- Position may require work during nights, weekends, and holidays or overtime or night differential pay.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in Federal service or equivalent experience in private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience providing waterfront support for temporary mechanical support systems and services, non‑nuclear interface mechanical support systems and services, and waterfront production mechanical support systems and services.
- Experience with ship's systems, shipyard infrastructure, NAVFAC assets, industry standards, and the Code of Federal Regulations.
- Experience providing engineering review of work planned, in progress and completed to ensure technical specifications, engineering principles, and configuration controls are met.
- Experience coordinating all installation, removal, repair, fabrication, and testing on assigned mechanical support systems and services.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in Federal service or equivalent experience in private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience with mechanical engineering concepts, principles and practices applicable to the full range of engineering duties concerned with design, layout and evaluation of mechanical support systems and services supporting shipboard work.
- Experience working with mechanical temporary systems and services that support reactor safety, ship safety and personnel safety.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical equipment and recommending repairs, replacements, modifications, and operational changes.
- Experience modifying and upgrading mechanical support systems and services that are complex, sophisticated, intertwined with numerous other systems and services.
Basic Requirements: Applicants must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual requirements of a bachelor’s degree in an accredited engineering program (ABET) or a related curriculum with specific course content per paragraph
A. Alternatively, a combination of education and experience may satisfy the requirements.

Education:
GS‑11 level requires at least 3 years of progressively higher‑degree graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
