Responsibilities
  • Clean guest rooms and other assigned areas. Operate cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner, waxer, polisher). Empty wastebaskets, dust, wax and polish room furniture. Wash walls, partitions, air vents, disinfect and deodorize toilet bowls, lavatories, etc. Wash and replace window treatments and clean ceiling fixtures. Change light bulbs and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds. Move furniture to clean under and behind;

    use a step stool to clean windows and window treatments, cabinet tops, mirrors and picture frames. Clean bathroom areas including tub, tile, walls, commode, floors and vanity. Clean kitchen area including stoves, ovens, microwave, refrigerator, cabinets and floor. Washes and disinfects dishes, utensils and cookware.
  • Clean iron and ironing board and replace cover as necessary. Clean and ensure proper functionality of luggage racks; ensure proper number of hangers are available in closets. Ensure TVs are clean and programmed to proper channel and volume; alarm clocks are properly programmed with back up battery; in-room phones are clean, properly programmed and in working condition.
  • Place proper number of amenities in room to include consumables and non-consumables. Remove and replace bed linen; inspect mattresses and pull-out sofas. Move/re-positions beds upon guest checkout weekly or at a guest’s request.
  • Greet and welcomes guests upon sight, always maintaining outstanding guest relations. Ensure privacy and security of guests is maintained at all times.
  • Clean vacuums and mops corridors, stairways, guest laundry, patios and balconies. Shampoo rugs, carpets and polish rails of stairways on a regular basis. Complete scheduled carpet cleaning using heavy industrial type carpet cleaners and equipment.
  • Perform deep cleaning as required by program standards (e.g., on a scheduled basis and upon check-out of guests in pet friendly rooms and in rooms that had an ADA service animal), which includes but is not limited to defrosting refrigerators, cleaning windows inside and out, carpet cleaning, shampoo and/or spot treatment, cleaning walls and other related tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order of storage rooms. Continually communicate the status of cleaned rooms and other spaces to supervisor through daily assignments or the property management system in housekeeping. Accomplish minor repairs and maintenance of equipment and report major repairs or replacement as needed.
  • Clean and inspect exterior spaces such as parking lots and outside passageways. May be required to load and unload trucks/vans. Assist with receipt of supplies, assembly, separation, storage and delivery of merchandise. Use hand tools as needed.
  • Be responsible for pass keys and other keys as assigned; return all keys at end of each shift. Report any unusual circumstances to supervisor (e.g., no luggage in a stay-over room, no service needed, room status vacancies, extra guests, unauthorized pets).
  • Report lost and found items to the housekeeping supervisor immediately, listing the room number or area where the item was found.
  • May assist with the setup and breakdown/cleanup of the complimentary self-service breakfast bar; assist with preparing, heating, displaying and replenishing breakfast items. Ensure surrounding area is returned to its original state and free of left-over food by end of designated breakfast hour. Obtain proper food handling certifications as applicable.
  • Complete all required safety and security training. Maintain a clean and safe environment. Apply knowledge of blood-borne pathogens safety measures to determine potential safety concerns related to contaminated linens and personal care items. Follow NHG protocols during daily service activity.
  • Perform laundry operations at the facility. May be required to possess a valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities within the normal scope of duties. May be required to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment, as well as other certification requirements. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • No experience required. High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Physical requirements:

    moderate physical effort; moving furniture; use of hand or lightweight powered cleaning equipment.
