Position: TOOLMAKER with Security Clearance
Duties Help
* You will design, manufacture, calibrate, recondition, and repair machine shop tools, jigs, fixtures, and gages used by workers performing machining and assembly work.
* You will make detailed layouts using all precision measuring devices common to trade.
* You will construct and adapt own holding devices and fixtures used on machine tools in order to perform special and precise machining operations.
* You will plans and lay out jigs and fixtures for fabrication and assembly, normally working from blueprints, sketches, or molds of end items to be made.
* You will chip, files, and stripe parts by hand to obtain accurate fit.
* You will manufacture machine cutting tools such as gear cutters, hobs, double angle cutters, form tools and branches as well as dies for punch presses.
* You will manufacture complete machines designed for special nuclear operations. Requirements Help Conditions of employment
* Must be a US Citizen.
* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
* Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision:
* Ability to accomplish work using knowledge of heat treatment of steel, allowances for fits, all types of gearing, screw thread sizes, all types of roller bearings, and mathematical tables.
* Ability to draw sketches, design jigs and all types of fixtures, including dies for sheet metal work.
* Ability to select suitable material and machines to complete the job using a variety of precision instruments and test equipment.
* Ability to design and manufacture rubber and plastic molds from aluminum and steel.
