Brief DescriptionAssistant Store Manager
General Position SummaryAt Lids, our Assistant Store Managers are the heart and soul of the Lids brand. These cap experts strive to foster the passion for sporting and fashion goods by meeting the needs of our customers while ensuring that all areas of the store are engaged. Assistant Store Managers are accountable for every aspect of the retail store performance, including achieving key results, creating a fun and inclusive environment for their team, and delivering exceptional customer service.
PrincipleDuties & Responsibilities People & Training
- Act as Manager on duty for employee scheduling issues, customer complaints, etc. when Store Manager is not present.
- Manage store associates through LIDS Training Programs, goal setting for sales and tasks, and regular follow up when Store Manager is not present.
- Administer progressive steps of discipline, including verbal and written warnings, in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Engage team members by creating a fun and productive environment, explaining how their work supports company objectives.
- Contribute to a respectful and inclusive team environment by establishing supportive relationships and adhering to Lids Brand Standards.
- Schedule and staff the store, including calling in associates during unexpected peaks when the Store Manager is not present.
- Participate in LIDS Training Programs, adhere to set goals for sales and tasks, and follow up regularly.
- Assist in recruiting and training store personnel on proper operations and procedures.
- Ensure store associates comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including safekeeping of inventory, funds, and property.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Lead and execute Lids selling strategy to achieve KPIs and sales targets while delivering excellent customer service.
- Resolve customer feedback and address issues promptly, including escalations and urgent requests.
- Encourage customers to participate in Lids membership programs or special in-store offers through employee education.
- Adhere to visual guidelines that include proper merchandising, signage, and store cleanliness.
- Maintain a professional appearance consistent with company dress code policy.
- Execute operations-focused company-level directives, promotions, and initiatives.
- Understand and follow Policies & Procedures Manual to maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain store technology and equipment, conduct daily audits, ensure functionality, and coordinate updates or repairs.
- Manage store facilities, supplies, and services by handling service requests and replenishment.
- Effectively manage cash, including opening and closing till, counterfeit protection practices, and bank drops.
- Prepare store for inventory audits and support accuracy checks.
- Open and close store following Operations P&P Manual procedures.
- Protect company assets within LIDS Retail policies.
- Prepare store work schedules that provide proper coverage and meet wage control guidelines.
- Accurately manage inventory, including receiving, transferring, price changes, and product counts.
- Strategically organize the backroom to maximize efficiency.
- Execute optimal layout and visual merchandising or product presentation strategy, including managing activations and seasonal changes.
- Maintain day-to-day visual merchandising, restocking, destocking, and minor changes.
- Execute special pricing signage and promotional adjustments during operating hours to align with product sell-through strategy.
- Established ability to produce sales results while minimizing loss.
- Strong interpersonal skills and clear professional verbal communication.
