Electrical Maintenance Technician

This position is contingent upon contract award.

The Electrical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and replacing electrical equipment for operations in support of the berthing and messing operations. In addition to primary duties, they will be responsible in assisting with common duties associated maintaining the barge during berthing and messing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Inspect, maintain, repair, and replace (if needed) in order to operate as originally intended and designed for all electrical equipment.

· Repair or replace service connections, distribution panels, connections, grounds, outlets, switches, wiring, branch circuits, ground fault circuits, lighting fixtures, photo cells, power cords, cracked, broken, or missing receptacle and switch faceplates.

· Replace cracked, broken, or missing receptacle and switch faceplates with new plates of the same or original color and size. All workmanship and materials shall conform to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70 National Electrical Code.

· Provide and replace batteries, perform testing unit after completion of repairs to ensure proper operation.

· Assist with maintaining:

  • Tie up or cast off berthing barge (Down River)
  • Sewage, potable water, steam, shore power, telephone, fire main, gangways and cable television connections (Down River)
  • 1-inch KEVLAR mooring lines (150 ft. in length). With 6' loop in both ends, with Chafing gear installed
  • 2-inch KEVLAR mooring lines (200 ft. in length). With 6' loop in both ends, with Chafing gear installed
  • Cleaning and sanitizing (including waxing and buffing of tile decks)
  • Perform winterization duties (as required)
  • Accomplish Preliminary and final visual and operational inspection of all systems and equipment utilizing barge systems and equipment check off list (BSEC) and submit a detailed report of all discrepancies.
  • Provide commercial type garbage disposal, removing existing, replace and operational test
  • Remove, replace, and operationally check new single function commercial style clothes washer and/or clothes dryer

· Replace: fluorescent tubes in close fixtures (12, 24, and 48 inch); fluorescent tubes with LED bulb in closed fixtures (12, 24, and 48 inch); existing 24" x 48' closed fixtures with LED flat panel of 24" x 48" light fixture; replace bulbs in close incandescent fixtures; bulbs with screw-in LED bulb in closed incandescent fixtures; bulbs in spotlight fixtures; bulbs with LED bulb in spotlight fixtures;

starters; ballast on Fluorescent light fixture; bulb and batter in emergency light fixtures; install new nickel cadmium rechargeable emergency light fixtures; replace fuses; install new exit light features

· Other duties as identified and assigned

Required Education and Experience

· High school diploma or GED required

· Active DoD Personnel Security Clearance

· Technical or vocational training in:

  • Electric systems
  • Industrial maintenance
  • Marine/shipboard electrical work

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • As Required

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • As Required.

Security Responsibilities

  • Eligible and obtain a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.
  • Must comply with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures.
  • May be responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials. Employee shall not divulge any information, or afford access to other employees not having a need-to-know authorization. Shall not divulge information outside the company without management approval. Will be required to execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to any controlled information.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex words and technical documents/diagrams.
