Position Summary
The Touch Labor Electrician plays a critical role in supporting electrical maintenance and installation tasks within various industrial and commercial settings across the United States. This position focuses on performing hands-on electrical work that involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety. The role requires close collaboration with senior electricians and maintenance teams to execute tasks that demand precision and adherence to electrical codes and safety standards.
The Touch Labor Electrician contributes to minimizing downtime by promptly addressing electrical issues and supporting continuous production processes. Ultimately, this position ensures that electrical infrastructure remains reliable and compliant, directly impacting the overall productivity and safety of the facility.
What will you Do?
- Perform routine electrical maintenance and repairs on machinery, equipment, and electrical systems under the guidance of senior electricians.
- Conduct troubleshooting to identify electrical faults and implement corrective actions to restore functionality.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and electrical codes during all tasks to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs and repair documentation.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned electrical tasks.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and test shipboard electrical systems and equipment.
- Install and terminate electrical cables, connectors, panels, switchboards, lighting systems, motors, and control equipment.
- Perform continuity, insulation resistance, voltage, and operational testing using appropriate electrical test equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and determine corrective actions to restore system functionality.
- Remove and replace damaged or obsolete electrical components and wiring.
- Route, secure, and label electrical cables in accordance with shipyard specifications and customer requirements.
- Ensure all work complies with NAVSEA standards, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies.
- Maintain accountability for assigned tools, equipment, and materials.
- Work safely in confined spaces, elevated areas, and aboard vessels under construction or repair.
- Coordinate work activities with supervisors, production teams, and other trades to ensure project schedules are met.
- Complete required documentation and quality control inspections.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Electrical Foreman or Superintendent.
- Ability to read and write effectively.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of marine electrical, shipyard electrical, industrial electrical, or related experience, preferably in a shipboard environment.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting shipboard electrical systems preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and safe work practices.
- Ability to safely operate electrical testing equipment and power tools.
- OSHA Maritime, CPR/First Aid, or other applicable certifications are preferred but not required.
- Ability to obtain all required shipyard access credentials.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated locations, and varying weather conditions.
