Brixner Junior High School Vice Principal

Klamath County School District invites all qualified persons interested in the position of Brixner Junior High School Vice Principal to apply.

General

Job Duties
  • Assist with managing the general operation of the school.
  • Assist the principal as the instructional leader of the school.
  • Monitor and supervise instruction, support teachers to achieve high expectations for all students.
  • Evaluate the impact of instruction on student learning, create a culture of continuous professional growth.
  • Engage staff, students and families to achieve continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Assist with the supervision and evaluation of all certified and classified personnel assigned to the school.
  • Assist in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating the school’s professional staff. Assume responsibility for the safety of building employees and administration of school facilities.
  • Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary according to due process to the rights of students.
  • Create a safe, supportive school climate and effectively manage operational, technical and staff issues to promote instructional progress.
  • Supervise and evaluate the school’s extracurricular program.
  • Assume responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and health of students.
  • Act as liaison between the school and the community interpreting activities and policies of the school, and encouraging community participation in school life.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
  • Direct the high school athletic department consistent with district, league and state policies and administrative procedures and to implement within the district an effective and comprehensive co-curricular program for students.

Compensation
  • 210 day contract

Required Qualifications
  • Hold or qualify for appropriate Oregon administrative license.
  • Minimum five years’ experience as an educator.
  • A clear vision of the school instruction program; understanding school issues.
  • Ability to lead school improvement efforts informed by data that produce high achievement results.
  • Strong communication skills that establish positive, collaborative working relationships with and among students, staff, parents and the community.
  • Effective management of school operations to support teaching and learning.
  • Understanding of effective educational programming, including English language development, talented and gifted, and special education.
  • Expertise in personnel selection, management, evaluation, and staff development
  • Strong fiscal manager; ability to marshal limited resources to meet student and school needs.
  • Previous administrative and athletic director experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with recent changes in Teacher Evaluation Systems.
  • Facilitator of ideas; ability to articulate and develop a shared vision within the school community.
  • Ability to create and foster a safe, student-centered culture where high expectations and learning is valued.
  • Understanding of the role of instructional technologies.
  • Supporter of extracurricular programs and activities.
  • Experience in working with a diverse student body.
  • Must be willing to lead school level committees and initiatives and assist on district level committees.
