The Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) serves as the College's Chief Academic Officer and Accreditation Liaison Officer, providing strategic leadership and oversight for all academic functions. This executive role ensures academic excellence, student success, and institutional integrity through policy development, curriculum oversight, and collaborative leadership. The VPAA is a member of the President's Cabinet and plays a key role in college-wide decision-making.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership

* Lead all academic functions (credit, non-credit, community education), including instruction, curriculum, assessment, and faculty development.

* Drive strategic planning to expand enrollment through innovative, high-demand programs.

* Oversee academic operations, including program development, program review, instructional support, and compliance.

Academic Excellence

* Champion teaching excellence, inclusive pedagogy, and student engagement.

* Oversee learning support services:
Career Services, TRiO, Tutoring, Testing, and the Learning Resource Center.

* Lead the Center for Teaching and Learning to support faculty development.

Accreditation and Compliance

* Serve as Accreditation Liaison Officer to NWCCU.

* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation regulations (HECC, CCWD, NWCCU).

* Lead institutional self-study and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaboration and Governance

* Foster a climate of collegiality, trust, and transparency.

* Chair the Academic Council and Continuous Improvement and Innovation Committee.

* Represent the College at state and regional academic leadership groups.

Operational Oversight

* Administer the Academic Affairs budget and allocate resources equitably.

* Advise the President on academic policy, efficiency, and innovation.

* Lead divisional hiring, performance management, and succession planning.

* Program Review through contribution margin analysis.

External Engagement

* Cultivate partnerships with K-12, universities, and industry.

* Expand workforce development and seamless transfer pathways.

* Secure grants and funding to support academic innovation.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct supervision of:

* Academic Deans

* Director of Learning Support Services

* Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning

* Assessment Coordinator

* Administrative Assistant to VPAA and Scheduling and Curriculum Specialist

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* If assigned, this position may require administrative work on grant-funded program activities and reporting.

* Other duties as assigned. Serve on college committees and working groups as assigned, contributing to institutional initiatives and shared governance.

* Engage in ongoing professional development, staying current with trends, best practices, and innovations in higher education leadership.

* Perform other duties as assigned to support institutional priorities and operational needs.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* Master's Degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, or related field (Doctorate preferred).

* Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, preferably at a community college.

* Proven success in academic administration, curriculum development, and student success initiatives.

* Experience managing instructional budgets and strategic planning.

* Knowledge of faculty collective bargaining agreements and shared governance.

* Teaching experience required.
