Position: 9-Month Faculty-Business Management-Salon Emphasis Program Lead

JOB SUMMARY

This is a 9-month, full-time Business Management-Salon Emphasis Program Lead Faculty position (174 days/year) at Klamath Community College in Oregon. We seek an experienced instructor to teach upper division coursework for the Business Management - Salon Emphasis Program. Faculty at KCC are expected to provide high-quality, outcomes-based instruction that aligns with the philosophy and objectives of the college. In addition to teaching, faculty participate in college activities, committees, and other duties to support the mission and initiatives of the college.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Teach 45 credits per academic year (across three terms) in online and/or hyflex modalities.

* Develop upper-division Business Management courses and Business Management-Salon Emphasis courses.

* Develop, review, and update Course Outcome Guides and syllabi in collaboration with colleagues.

* Evaluate, assess, and track student academic achievement.

* Adjust teaching strategies based on assessment results, professional development, and feedback from students, peers, and administrators.

* Document instructional modifications informed by assessment data.

* Employ a variety of teaching methods to support high-quality learning experiences for a diverse student population.

* Maintain five scheduled student conference hours (office hours) per week and five additional unscheduled campus hours for student contact, colleague consultation, or other professional responsibilities.

* Establish instructional standards in accordance with academic policies and communicate these standards to students in writing (e.g., syllabus).

* Advise students enrolled in the Business Management BAS program.

* Play a substantial role in reviewing and maintaining the integrity of the curriculum within the discipline/program.

* Collaborate with the Business and Cosmetology Advisory Committees on curriculum development, student learning assessment, and related initiatives.

* Maintain certificates and/or licenses required for employment eligibility.

* Uphold professional standards of conduct.

* Acquire new skills to support program and discipline enhancement.

* Identify and participate in professional development activities that promote effective student learning.

* Participate in college activities, committees, and other duties that support the mission and initiatives of the institution.

* Engage in self, departmental, and program evaluation processes.

* Participate in departmental or discipline-specific meetings to provide guidance and subject-matter expertise, supporting the college's strategic and academic objectives, including accreditation.

* Serve on committees as assigned through an advised-and-consent process.

* Participate in faculty workshops and other professional growth opportunities related to teaching, assessment, and essential faculty responsibilities.

* Collaborate with four-year colleges and universities to support articulation agreements.

* Attend commencement and other college-sponsored events as requested.

* Promote the mission, values, and vision of the college.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Other duties as assigned.

* If assigned, this position may require administrative work on grant-funded program activities and reporting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

* Frequently moving from stationary sitting positions to standing and walking.

* Work is primarily performed in a standard classroom, office, and/or online instructional environment, requiring prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and computer use.

* Frequent use of hands and fingers for keyboarding, operating instructional technology, and handling course materials; occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 25 pounds.

* Ability to communicate effectively in person and through electronic platforms (e.g., video conferencing, email, learning management systems) with students, colleagues, and community partners.

* May require movement between campus buildings and occasional travel for advisory committee meetings, professional development, articulation activities, or college events.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE

* Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally in both oral and written formats.

* Strong computer and information literacy skills.

* Commitment to the effective use of technology in online and hyflex learning environments.

* Current knowledge of teaching and learning theories and best practices.

* Teaching experience in a community college and/or university setting preferred.
