Position Summary

The Department of Communication at Oregon Tech seeks applicants to be considered for part‑time course assignments in communication, writing, and speech, including general education classes and specialized classes for majors. Instructors are needed at the Klamath Falls and Portland Metro campuses. Online availability is also a plus.

Candidates should be prepared to teach ten‑week classes on one or more of the following:

  • COM 111Z – Public Speaking
  • SPE 321 – Small Group and Team Communication
  • WRI 121Z – Composition I
  • WRI 122Z – Composition II
  • WRI 227Z – Technical Writing
  • WRI 327 – Advanced Technical Writing
  • WRI 345 – Science Writing

The department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part‑time faculty in these areas. This is not an announcement of a specific open position, but a part‑time faculty interest pool, from which the department may identify applicants based on scheduling needs.

Additional Requirements

Master’s degree in Communication (for SPE and COM), Rhetoric/Composition (SPE 111, PWR, and WRI), or Technical Communication or Professional Writing and Rhetoric (PWR and WRI)

OR

MA or PhD in a related disciplinary field with a minimum of 30 graduate quarter credit‑hours in the appropriate specialization

AND

  • Experience teaching college‑level communication, speech, or writing classes in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and/or fully online environments
  • Excellent technology skills (MS Office, Adobe Suite, Word Press, or other contemporary desktop productivity and publishing tools, as well as online learning management systems)
  • Ability to effectively and respectfully work, communicate, and collaborate in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings.
Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Communication (for SPE and COM), Rhetoric/Composition (SPE 111, PWR, and WRI), or Technical Communication or Professional Writing and Rhetoric (PWR and WRI)
