Position Summary
The Natural Sciences Department at Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) teaches chemistry, biology, and physics to undergraduate students in a variety of majors and houses interdisciplinary undergraduate programs in Biology‑Health Sciences and Environmental Sciences, as well as minors in chemistry, applied physics, biology, and sustainability.
This role is for the Klamath Falls campus. Faculty and students also exist in other locations, including online courses and the Portland metro area campus.
Oregon Tech is accepting applications for Chemistry Adjunct Instructors for the Department of Natural Sciences as part of an anticipated opening in fall 2021 and for future part‑time adjunct appointments. Appointment availability will vary from quarter to quarter as a function of student enrollment.
ResponsibilitiesThe primary purpose of this position is to teach 100‑ or 200‑level general chemistry laboratory and/or lecture classes, and possibly future specialized courses such as electrochemistry. Duties include providing quality instruction for daytime classes, performing grading and relevant preparation for labs, and maintaining appropriate records. Successful applicants will work with other faculty, staff, and administrators to deliver an integrated learning experience in chemistry courses and will be available to teach classes on a variety of days and times.
AdditionalRequirements
- B.S. in Chemistry or a related discipline, plus relevant teaching experience.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in chemistry or a related discipline.
- 1 year or more of relevant college‑level teaching experience as the instructor of record.
- Expertise in general chemistry and/or relevant experience using chemistry in an industry.
Classes will be principally in‑person, with some online components possible. Instruction will include hands‑on laboratory time, and depending on the candidate’s qualifications, may also include classroom lectures.
LocationThis position will be at Oregon Tech’s Klamath Falls campus.
