The Career Coach is responsible for student career advisement and outreach to help students explore careers, assess their skills and interests, and engage in high impact practices such as cooperative work experience and practicums. The Career Coach provides day‑to‑day support for career services, career software exploration, and workforce placement. The Career Coach advances student success by delivering career exploration and job‑search workshops, providing individualized career and transfer advising, planning employer networking events (panels, meet‑and‑greet, small fairs), and supporting student employment at KCC.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff in other departments/units regarding academic and career planning.
  • Work with the Career Technical Education faculty to expand the awareness and availability of cooperative work experiences, practicum, and internship possibilities for students.
  • Work with faculty to develop experiential learning opportunities.
  • Develop workforce opportunities, expand outreach and recruitment.
  • Develop strategies to help students effectively market their skills and experiences to employers.
  • Develop strategies to support non‑traditional students with career exploration, training, and outreach.
  • Assist students with job placement and employment.
  • Teach, train, and mentor students regarding skills necessary to gain successful employment.
  • Teach assigned classes in accordance with current course content in a variety of modalities, including online, face‑to‑face, hybrid, and hyflex classes.
  • Support employment outreach.
  • Undertake key initiatives for career‑related work.
  • Provide career advising, trainings, and programming.
  • Work collaboratively with student services to coordinate efforts with FYE career experiences, and College success and survival classes.
  • Participate in college wide shared governance.
  • Develop, plan, and implement various training programs.
  • Coordinate career placement, training, and programming with all areas of the college.
  • Administer, score, interpret, report, and record findings from career and personality assessments.
  • Maintain membership and actively participate in professional organizations – e.g. National Career Development Association, National Association of Colleges and Employers.
  • Assist program leads in planning, preparing for, and maintaining advisory Committee meetings.
  • Attend college and community outreach events to positively promote Klamath Community College and the Career Services Center.
  • Develop and participate in career services center events that may be held in the evening and/or weekends.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver student workshops on job search strategies, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and career exploration.
  • Oversee the hiring process for KCC student workers (posting positions, verifying Federal Work Study eligibility, submitting Personnel Action Forms, etc.).
  • Organize and facilitate employer networking events, including career panels, job fairs, and industry meet‑and‑greet(s), to connect students with regional employers.
  • Provide advising for students intending to transfer to four‑year institutions, including guidance on transfer pathways.
Non‑Essential

Duties & Responsibilities
  • If assigned, this position may require administrative work on grant‑funded program activities and reporting.
  • Serves on College committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Needed to Perform This Role
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Previous college advising or teaching preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish Preferred.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • Frequently moving from stationary to sitting positions and from standing to walking.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Behavioral and/or Social Science or related field required.
  • Counseling experience and related degree.
  • Experience in advising.
  • Experience working with higher education.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
