Manufacturing Engineering Technology

The objective of the Manufacturing Engineering Technology undergraduate program is to offer students a quality education that provides the greatest possible opportunity for rewarding and successful careers. This includes practical training and technical education in engineering, manufacturing processes, and manufacturing equipment as well as supplemental coursework in communications, mathematics, science, social science, and business.

Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering Program at Oregon Institute of Technology provides an excellent theoretical and applied or hands on engineering education. The program provides graduates with a foundation in fundamentals, applications, design, project management, communications, and professional and ethical responsibility.

Mechanical Engineering Technology

The objective of the Mechanical Engineering Technology Program is to ensure that graduates of this curriculum acquire competency in those theoretical, applied engineering and practical subjects necessary to become successful in their careers. The program strives to maintain a reputation for academic standards that will assure graduates a welcome by prospective employers.

Position Summary

Oregon Tech's Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and Technology (MMET) department seeks applicants for a full-time (nine-month), multi-year, renewable position to start in September 2019. This appointment would be at the instructor level.

The primary focus for this position is the instruction of students in our ABET-accredited BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering Technology and BS Manufacturing Engineering Technology degree programs. Candidates must have a strong desire to teach, must advise SAE student club for competition, and must be able to teach a broad of range of courses offered in the MMET from Introduction to Engineering through to upper-division courses and capstone projects;

and (potentially) graduate-level courses.

At this time, we are particularly interested in candidates who are able to develop course materials, develop labs, and teach classes in one or more of the following areas:

* Manufacturing & Planning

* Manufacturing Tool Design

We also place a high premium on practical skills and industrial experience that can be used to enhance student learning. This focus on real-world applications is one key reason why students choose Oregon Tech, and why they are successful in their careers once they graduate. Candidates must also be prepared to take a proactive role in student advising.

Professional development might include (but is not limited to) the publication of scholarly works, applied research, collaboration with industrial partners, or grant writing. Institutional service may include serving on university committees, and participation in departmental initiatives.

Minimum Requirements Additional Requirements

* A master's degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering or a closely-related field.

* SAE Baja Car or Formula Car competition and advising experiences.

* A minimum of 3 years of related industrial experience.

Preferred Qualifications

* PhD in a field related to Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
