DescriptionProvides phlebotomy services for the hospital and off‑site locations. Delivers venipunctures, heel punctures, and capillary sticks with safe techniques, ensuring specimen integrity and quality test results. Additional responsibilities include specimen processing, professional conduct, customer service, patient safety, teamwork, and compliance.
Essential Job Functions- Phlebotomy:
Performs venipunctures, heel punctures, and capillary sticks; maintains specimen integrity. - Processing:
Collects laboratory specimens; triages, accessioning, labels, and reports; manages orders and STAT requests. - Professionalism:
Wears s, keeps work area and public spaces clean, and follows appearance standards. - Customer Service:
Provides courteous service to inpatients and outpatients; listens to customers and seeks assistance when needed. - Promotes Patient Safety Goals:
Reports errors and near misses; follows patient identification and labeling rules. - Commitment to Team:
Demonstrates values; supports colleagues; participates in problem solving; meets attendance standards; maintains scheduling flexibility. - Support Corporate Compliance Initiatives:
Maintains professionalism; complies with laws and regulations; reports violations via the Compliance Hotline.
- Assist in processing, answer phones, stocking, cleaning, and disinfecting the laboratory.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required
:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
Preferred
:
Experience in patient care or healthcare education/background; recent phlebotomy experience; PBT (ASCP) certification or equivalent.
Light physical and moderate cognitive demands. Requires walking one to three miles, sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. Manages time constraints while handling multiple tasks and interruptions. Prioritizes and organizes tasks effectively; makes sound decisions in patient care scenarios.
