JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Director of School Operations plans, directs, organizes and administers the operational departments of the district including:
Maintenance, Food Service, Custodial, Warehouse and the Print Shop. The Director is a member of the District Cabinet and is responsible for overseeing the full scope of school operational needs to help the District achieve its vision and mission. The Director will work with department supervisors to ensure effective operational processes.
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Direct all KCSD operations related to district’s strategic plan.
- Support and develop standard operating procedures for management of district operations.
- Utilize evaluation and support systems to promote professional growth.
- Promote shared leadership and professionalism.
- Oversees performance management functions for all employee groups.
- Provide employee training on human resource related functions and procure trainers when necessary
- to provide training.
- Attract, recruit, and retain highly effective staff for department staffing.
- Assists administrators and supervisors in resolving human resources problems in coordination with the Director of Human Resources.
- Provides consultation on a wide range of school and district operations issues.
- Provides operations department representation to various committees, special interest groups and public meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Overseeing operations in a manner consistent with all applicable local, State and Federal statutes and in compliance with the organization’s by-laws, policies and procedures.
- Plays a leadership role in the district strategic planning and budgeting processes.
- Directs aspects facilities issues, including maintenance at all district sites.
- Regularly conducts facilities walkthroughs in coordination with other district personnel to develop an aesthetically pleasing plan.
- Directs aspects of Food Service, including quality, managing staff/venders, and ODE compliance
- Directs aspects of the Transportation department including routes, budget, purchasing.
- Coordinates the district technology plans in partnership with the Technology Supervisor.
- Oversee the development of multiphase projects’ timelines, budgets and critical path scheduling to facilitate ongoing school and facilities maintenance activities.
- Manage short- and long-term plans and implement cost-effective maintenance programs.
- Prepare, administer and monitor budgets and anticipate future budgetary needs.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse workforce and community.
- Serves as a member of the Superintendent’s cabinet.
- Ensure compliance with District contracting policies and procedures for assigned projects as well as enforcement of contract provisions; oversee certification of consultant and contractor payment requests, change order requests, requests for information and all project processes necessary for quality assurance and compliance with district policy
- Lead and participate in building and facility maintenance planning meetings with design professionals, district stakeholders, community representatives and municipal code enforcement agencies representatives and staff.
- Master’s Degree in Education or Master’s Degree in Business Administration
- At least 5 years’ experience in school administration or business administration.
- Knowledge of school and district practices
