Douglas ESD is accepting applications to fill the position of Family Resource Specialist
. This position is 230 days per year, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day to begin in the 2026-27 school year. Position to be located in Klamath Falls.

Salary range: $26.34 - $33.95 per hour (depending on relevant verifiable experience).
Job summary:
This position will engage families with young children who have a gap in services and connect them with early childhood services including basic needs, education, medical, behavioral health and more. They will participate in community partner meetings and help connect families to other community resources. The ideal candidate will have strong family engagement skills, strong independent thinking abilities, strong mathematical ability to make program eligibility determinations, comfort using technology and learning new skills, and flexibility to adapt to changing needs within the program.
- Regularly and timely review family applications to qualify families for early learning programs.
- Review referrals, complete basic determinants of health assessments with families using motivational interviewing and refer families to appropriate community resources of their choice.
- Listen to clients' concerns, assess needs and preferences and develop plans to support them in connecting to resources.
- Utilize math and critical thinking skills to determine timely and accurate program eligibility from family applications, as needed.
- Build and maintain relationships with partners including education, tribal, health care professionals, business, early childhood providers, religious, and other community-based organizations for the benefit of families with young children.
- Plan, facilitate, and participate in meetings with partners, families, committees, and the state across the three-county region – primarily in Klamath and Lake Counties with virtual opportunities in Douglas County.
- Work as a cohesive team member to support the Hub's state and regional governance council requirements.
- Attend community events, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Serve as a liaison between family and community partners, encouraging parents to advocate for themselves and foster responsibility.
- Ensure families are connected to health care including medical, mental, and oral health, education, and other supports to ensure identified program outcomes are attained.
- Participate in meetings with partners, community, and other parties and serve on committees as assigned.
- Complete required reports and other paperwork or database entries in a timely and acceptable manner.
- Provide technical assistance to partners and families to navigate the data system.
- Maintain cooperative working relations and facilitate networking with various community agencies and organizations.
- Communicate program roles and scope to families, schools, and agency personnel accurately and effectively.
- Become familiar with federal, state, regional, county and community resources.
- Manage deadlines and requirements in a fast-paced, demanding context with the ability to self-manage and direct as needed.
- Compose and prepare pertinent correspondence, reports, minutes, and memoranda in appropriate format, applying knowledge of established departmental procedures and functions.
- Index and file correspondence, reports, and other materials for department or program strand.
- Work collaboratively with regional programs and communicate professionally and positively to help drive performance and organizational improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in human services related field (e.g., early childhood education, social work, family studies) and referrals of families in need of services to community resources preferred.
- Excellent project management skills, multitasking, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced demonstration and knowledge in several areas of the position.
