This is a PRN (as needed) position with nights and weekend rotations.
Maintains a hospital environment that is sanitary and orderly. Performs basic housekeeping duties such as washing and/or mopping floors, cleaning furniture and hospital equipment.
Essential Functions- Vacuum, dust, mop offices, patient rooms, and hallways. Periodically strip, wax, and seal floors. Regularly buff floors using a floor scrubbing and buffing machine.
- Clean assigned areas: wash furnishings, tile, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions; polish sinks, tubs, drinking fountains, toilets, mirrors, and similar apparatus; wash walls, light switches and telephones; keep all areas picked up.
- Collect and remove waste. Use dust and damp cloths, ladders, and a vacuum cleaner to clean windowsills, air vents, molding, furniture, and TVs.
- Perform specialized cleaning procedures such as preparing isolation rooms for new patients, requiring knowledge of advanced housekeeping methods and techniques.
- Move furniture as required to clean and relocate areas, such as relocating an office from one area of the building to another.
- Arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion after cleaning an area.
- Replenish the hospital area with supplies of hand cleaner, paper towels, toilet tissue, and other disposable items.
- Respond to codes and fire announcements and must be knowledgeable of the location and operation of all fire extinguishers used in the hospital.
- Fill out activity reports and maintenance slips as required.
- Greet all patients and clients in a friendly, timely manner and assist as may be necessary: holding doors, helping with wheelchairs, providing directions, etc.
- Required to complete all annual competency training and maintain license and/or certification.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred.
- Six (6) months’ housekeeping experience preferred.
This is a PRN (as needed) position and is eligible for retirement benefits through a 403b plan.
