Position Overview

Our client, a well-established construction organization, is seeking an experienced Construction Controller to lead financial operations across large-scale construction and MEP projects. This role is critical to ensuring accurate job costing, financial reporting, forecasting, and compliance while partnering closely with project and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee construction accounting functions including job costing, WIP schedules, percent-of-completion revenue recognition, change orders, retention, and progress billings
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, forecasts, and cash flow projections
  • Partner with project managers to monitor budgets, cost variances, and project profitability
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes and support audits
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and construction accounting best practices
  • Improve financial systems, controls, and reporting processes
  • Lead and mentor accounting staff as applicable
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in construction accounting or construction finance
  • Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition
  • Experience with construction accounting or ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage, Procore, Computer Ease)
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
  • Experience supporting MEP, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical construction projects preferred
