Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a dedicated Staff / Sr. Accountant to join our team near downtown Knoxville, Tennessee. This position is a Contract to permanent opportunity, offering the chance to work in a dynamic environment within the government contracting industry. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, a keen eye for detail, and a solid understanding of compliance standards.

Responsibilities:

- Handle month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, maintaining compliance with organizational policies.

- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations to uphold financial accuracy.

- Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements and profit and loss statements.

- Code and allocate invoices appropriately in accordance with project requirements.

- File tax forms and ensure adherence to relevant regulations.

- Utilize Quick Books and Microsoft NAV to oversee financial operations and maintain records.

- Support audit processes by collaborating with stakeholders and meeting government contracting requirements.

- Ensure compliance with federal standards and guidelines in all accounting practices.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a detail-oriented role.

- At least 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably within a regulated industry.

- Proficiency in Quick Books and Microsoft NAV is preferred.

- Strong understanding of general accounting principles, including AP, AR, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial reporting.

- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

- Familiarity with government contracts and compliance standards is highly desirable.
