We're looking for a dynamic and experienced Corporate Accounting Manager to lead our payroll accounting function. In this leadership role, you'll oversee end-to-end payroll accounting operations, ensure compliance, and drive process improvements across a complex, multi-entity environment.
You'll partner closely with HR, Finance, and external auditors while managing and developing a high-performing team. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys improving processes, working with systems, and making a measurable impact.
What You'll Do
+ Lead end-to-end payroll accounting operations, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries
+ Ensure compliance with GAAP, payroll tax laws, and regulatory requirements
+ Manage, mentor, and develop a team of payroll accounting professionals
+ Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to payroll
+ Partner with HR, Finance, and external auditors to ensure accurate reporting and audit readiness
+ Drive process improvements, automation, and efficiency across payroll and accounting workflows
+ Support and lead system implementations, upgrades, and process redesigns (e.g., UKG, ADP, Workday)
+ Analyze payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
+ Maintain strong internal controls across multiple entities and jurisdictions
What You Bring
+ 8+ years of payroll or payroll accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
+ Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll taxes, and compliance requirements
+ Hands-on experience with payroll systems (UKG, ADP, Workday, or similar)
+ Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
+ Experience working in large, complex, or multi-entity environments
+ Proven ability to lead teams, meet deadlines, and drive process improvements
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
+ High level of integrity and discretion with sensitive information
Nice to Have
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
+
Experience with system implementations or large-scale process redesigns
+ CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or similar certification

Work Environment
This is an on-site role, Monday through Friday, in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. You'll work closely with internal teams and leadership while managing critical payroll accounting functions that support the broader organization.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $58.00/hr.
