Role Description The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial activities, including processing accounts payable and receivable, preparing journal entries, and maintaining accurate general ledger records. This full-time role involves reconciling bank and account balances, assisting with month‑end and year‑end close, and supporting financial reporting and compliance requirements for government contracts. The Accountant will prepare and review financial statements, assist with audits, and ensure adherence to applicable regulations and internal controls.
This is an on-site position based in Knoxville, TN, working closely with internal teams and management to support sound financial operations and decision-making.
Qualifications
- Strong accounting fundamentals, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, and knowledge of GAAP.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial statement preparation in a professional setting.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Ability to interpret and apply financial policies, internal controls, and compliance requirements, preferably in a government or contracting environment.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams on-site.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
- Experience with federal contracting, cost accounting, or government compliance (e.g., FAR, CAS) is preferred but not required.
